Business
We are at the forefront of technology transfer in a number of areas and work closely with leading edge businesses in the UK and
internationally. In particular, QMUL has a policy of trying to interact with the business community in order to ensure its research and teaching are fully relevant
to the people it serves.
The Department has six research groups specialising in Computer Vision; Information Retrieval; Interaction, Media and Communication; Logic and Semantics; Computer Networks; and Risk Assessment and Decision Analysis. Each group is involved in world-class, cutting-edge research and each is engaged in a number of collaborative research with international partners - including NASA, Microsoft Research, Intel, Siemens, Philips, Motorola - and are funded by UK Research Councils, the European Union and by industry around the world.
These interactions can take many forms. Many organizations approach the department with specific problems that our world-class research can answer. Other organizations wish to get involved with our research work by sponsoring our research students whereas some give us valuable advice on what skills our undergraduates require in order to meet their future employment needs. In some areas, our research has led to developments that have been exploited by spin-out companies that in turn can provide products and services to industry and consumers.
In whatever way we can help your organisation, we would like to know. For further information or to get in touch, please contact us.
