NETCA: UK Network in Computer Algebra
University of Bath

The internationally recognised inter-disciplinary team at Bath comprises Professors Davenport and Fitch, and Drs Richardson, Vorobjov and Bradford. It is devoted to the use of computers to manipulate algebraic and geometric concepts, and the use of these concepts in computing.

Bath is widely viewed as Britain's centre for computational algebra and the related geometry: it is the national host for the European Computer Algebra Information Network, its members have organised the international conferences (ISSAC, DISCO, MEGA) when they were held in UK, and hold prominent positions in international conferences, are associate editors of both major journals in the field, form part of several international and EEC-funded collaborations etc. The group spans the spectrum of research from Pure to Applied, publishing in journal ranging from Acta Artihmetica to IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications, and attracting funding from sources as diverse as the London Mathematical Society and NAG Ltd.

Particular areas of expertise are the formal treatment of integration, computation with algebraic and other numbers of classical analysis, and complexity in real geometry.
