Midland Graduate School

About

The Midlands Graduate School in the Foundations of Computing Science (MGS) was set up in October 1999. The School has two goals:

  • Educational. To provide (beginning) Computer Science PhD students with a sound basis for their research. This includes a broad education in state-of-the-art techniques and issues in the Foundations of Computing Science, and training in the skills needed to conduct research in the modern world.
  • Social. To give young PhD students the opportunity to meet others working in similar fields and at a similar stage in their careers.

This year's Midland meeting took place in April (11th-15th), and a group of computer science PHD students from University of Queen Mary participated in it. The courses available are listed on the Midlands' website.

The Graduate Midlands Group is supported financialy by the ESPRC.
